About The Artwork
expand_more
Trumpet Angel 2 by Stephen Curtis is a striking 11 x 15 inch oil painting that transforms a familiar motif into something mysterious and contemporary. The figure of the angel, rendered in pale tones against a deep black background, appears both ethereal and unsettling. The trumpet replaces facial features, symbolizing a voice that is heard rather than seen, a call that is universal and faceless. Soft, diffused wings extend behind the figure, adding movement and contrast to the dark, void-like space. The result is a powerful meditation on revelation, sound, and the unseen forces that guide us, making this piece a captivating choice for collectors seeking art with depth and symbolism.

About the artist

Driven by: Beauty, and the loss of that beauty in our flawed nature, and the desire to restore it, at the very least in a visual or visceral way that will both remind us of who we are, and give us some glimmer of hope as to what we could be.
I was an artist from childhood. I started work in Photography in my early 20s, and ended up in Film School in Chicago in the late 80s. Graduating with a degree in film did not necessarily mean I was in the film industry. Rather, that degree took me other places, specifically within the realm of computers, animation, audio production, and other artistic endeavors. I’ve owned a video production business for awhile, and made mostly corporate style commercials and special FX pieces and animations for clients. But as time has gone on, I’ve come full circle around to the more pure forms of art again, in particular oil paintings, and illustration, and on a very old and prototypical form of substrata; wood.
