About The Artwork

NORTH OF AFRICA Where Two Continents Meet. A captivating fine art photograph that evokes the mysterious beauty of where two continents meet.
In NORTH OF AFRICA, I sought to capture not just a place, but a moment where history, geography, and time collide. This piece, crafted in October 2021 during a period of global uncertainty, serves as an invitation to explore the world beyond our familiar surroundings — a window to the bigger picture.
This artwork draws the viewer into the mysterious and powerful aura of the Straits of Gibraltar. Here, the northern point of Morocco reaches out towards the Rock of Gibraltar, where Africa and Europe seem to meet in a delicate balance. The low evening light paints the scene in smoky tones, shrouding the landscape in a sense of intrigue, as if the waters and lands are whispering centuries-old stories of conquest, migration, and cultural exchange.
Printed on gold-coloured brushed aluminum, the metallic surface echoes the rich warmth and depth of the scene, adding a touch of ethereal glow that enhances the mystique of the moment. The deep black aluminum frame draws your gaze inward, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the exotic and timeless nature of this piece.
As part of The Bigger Picture Collection, NORTH OF AFRICA embodies an invitation to look beyond borders — whether those of a city, a country, or even a continent — and reflect on the grander narrative of our world. Amidst the challenges of the times, this piece also offers a form of solace — a brief escape to a place where continents kiss, where the familiar meets the unknown, and where the weight of history mingles with the hope of tomorrow.
This artwork is a rare and meaningful addition to any collection.
