It is inspired by the universal longing for home, a theme that often appears in Melinda’s work. The painting reflects the cycle of leaving and returning, capturing the deep emotions tied to homecoming. Melinda drew a parallel to Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist, where the protagonist’s journey for treasure ultimately leads him back to where he started, realizing what he was searching for was there all along. This idea mirrors the painting’s portrayal of the vulnerability and anticipation of being away, and the enduring hope of returning home.
