About The Artwork
expand_more
Fog On The Bosphorous by Cecco Mariniello captures a moment of quiet sensuality set against the vastness of the sea. A reclining nude rests in warm light, draped with red fabric, while a massive cargo ship emerges from the mist beyond the balcony. The contrast between intimate interior stillness and the distant maritime presence creates a scene that is both timeless and surreal.

About the artist

Cecco Mariniello was born in Siena in 1950 and he lives in Florence.
Since the late seventies he began an intense activity as illustrator. He collaborated with various newspapers and journals. At the same time he worked in children books publishing, illustrating classics or the works of well known contemporary authors as well as his own stories.
All along he pursued a more intimate artistic research in the field of painting to which he would devote more and more of his time from the end of the 1990s. He developed his painting into two main directions: the Opere buffe, a series of poetic watercolours in small format with surrealistic comic tones and le Opere serie, oil canvases in medium and large formats.
His path crosses some of the artistic experiences of the 20th century like Metaphysics, Surrealism and Magic Realism. It is in the wake of these experiences that the original poetics of the Opere serie will develop, where spaces and figures from the painter’s memory meet and merge with myth and ancient memory.
