About The Artwork
expand_more
In Cup of Tea, Barbara Storey captures a contemplative moment of quiet ritual. The subject, seated comfortably with a striped teacup in hand, is rendered with expressive brushwork and bold contour lines that draw focus to both the gesture and the presence of thought. Rich, earthy tones with teal and mustard accents bring warmth to the canvas, while the figure’s introspective gaze evokes a sense of reflection or nostalgia.
Storey’s masterful balance of form and emotion in this work highlights the beauty in everyday moments and the quiet stories we tell through routine. A modern homage to stillness and presence, this piece would make a powerful addition to any contemporary or figurative art collection.

Fair & Free Shipping
We provide fair shipping for all orders under $500. What’s that mean? When most online retailers provide “free” shipping, they’re actually marking up prices to cover the shipping charge. This often costs you more! We don’t do that. Instead, we charge you exactly what it costs to ship your purchase to you. For all orders over $500, we’re happy to provide free shipping.
Processing & Delivery
Please allow 7-10 business days for your order to be processed and prepared for shipping. Note that delivery times vary depending on where your artwork is shipped from. About the artist

What I love about the painting as a form of art is the richness of its aspects: the composition, the choice of palette, the myriad ways one can lay the paint, the subject – and that just to name but a few.
As I go along my focus of attention varies and wanders from one aspect to another and quite often one dictates the other.
But the subject remains always the same: what fascinates and intrigues me in equal measure is us, the people. What subject could be more diverse and complex than the attempt to capture the way we react, interact, how the life leaves a mark and imprints itself on our faces and bodies.
There is a true beauty there and so it is in ordinary life.
I deliberately avoid any identifiable context or narrative which, I hope, encourages viewers' own interpretation of my very own world encapsulated on canvas.
