ABOUT THE ARTIST

I am a professional Artist living in Kent, UK and painter of vibrant, contemporary landscapes and seascapes.  In the early 1980s I studied for a Degree in Textile Design at Loughborough College of Art and my work still tends to contain an element of design and pattern. I have exhibited my paintings throughout the UK and have also held solo exhibitions in Scotland, Durham, and Kent where I am currently represented by the Natasha Pearl Gallery in Canterbury.  My paintings are also in private collections in USA, Europe and Saudi Arabia.

The focus of my works is upon light, color, and atmospheric perspective using oils and cold wax medium. I experiment with the Sgraffito technique, using different implements to mark through layers of paint to create body, depth and many exciting textural effects.

My aim is to draw the viewer into the painting and for them to imagine they are actually in the landscape itself, exploring their surroundings.
