ABOUT THE ARTIST

My name is Erhan Coral, and I consider myself a lifelong student of photography. I was born in Istanbul in 1966. Following my engineering education, I completed my master's degree in business administration in the USA. After a banking career that will last
approximately 25 years, I found my true calling in photography, my lifelong passion and became a professional photographer. What started as a simple curiosity quickly grew into a way for me to connect with the world around me.
I’ve always been fascinated by the interplay of light, shadow, and emotion, and photography gave me a way to explore these elements while telling stories.
I’m particularly drawn to documenting everyday life—those quiet, often overlooked moments that reveal so much about who we are. From the streets of Istanbul, where I was born, to places like Paris, Hanoi, Kathmandu, Varanasi, I try to approach each subject with respect and an open heart. I believe every place and person has a unique story to tell, and I feel privileged to capture even a small part of it.
While black-and-white photography is my preferred medium, I don’t see it as limiting—it helps me focus on the essence of a scene without distractions. I don’t claim to have all the answers
in my work, but I hope my photos encourage others to pause and look more closely at the world.
For me, photography is a quiet, ongoing journey, and I’m grateful for every step along the way.
