ABOUT THE ARTIST

I am a British/American abstract artist living and working in Paris, France. Born in Chester, UK, 1976. I completed a foundation course in art and design at Blacon Art college and went on to graduate with higher honers from East London University in 1998. My mediums are oil and acrylic.

I have lived in many different places, including New York for 17 years and Vieques, Puerto Rico for 4 years. My living and travels have directly influenced my work.

My paintings are just at the intersection of abstraction and landscape. I am interested in duality, negative space, dark and light, distance and perspective that in many ways looks and feels like the familiar world around us but is also ambiguous, general and abstracted. I am influenced by nature, the deep sea and the cosmos. The stars are always a source of wonder and awe to me.
Painting to me is a beautiful and treacherous journey of deep discovery into myself . The “layering” in my work is the constant adjustment of each mark, hand or brush stroke, pour of paint, spray of color previously made directing me to my next move. I often feel as though I am a conduit for something much larger than myself.

My work has been published in books and magazines. I have had several solo and groups shows. I have worked with ‘Cafe du Cycliste’ recent ad campaign and ’South Carolina Technical Collage’ of late. My work continues to sell to collectors internationally.

My intention is to work with my favorite gallery ‘Hauser and Wirth’ I love the diversity and choice of their artists.
